CDC’s MMWR and Medscape are proud to introduce a new FREE continuing education (CE) activity [t.emailupdates.cdc.gov]. The goal of this activity is to describe updated estimates of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and methicillin-susceptible Staphylococcus aureus (MSSA) bloodstream infections and associated in-hospital mortality, according to recent data from the Emerging Infections Program population surveillance and two large electronic health record data sets from more than 400 U.S. acute care hospitals. A CDC analysis of data reported in MMWR is the basis of the activity. This CE activity is intended for infectious disease physicians, critical care physicians, internists, nurses, pharmacists, public health officials, and other physicians who treat and manage patients with MRSA and MSSA infections.
